Ultrasonic flowmeter calculates flow rate by measuring the time difference between the propagation of sound waves in the forward and backward directions, and its upstream and downstream differentiation is crucial for measurement accuracy. 1. The core differentiation standard for ultrasonic flow meters is mainly based on the relative relationship between the sound wave propagation path and the fluid direction: • Upstream sensor: installed in the direction of the fluid source, where the sound wave is first emitted • Downstream sensor: installed in the direction of the fluid direction, receiving the sound wave signal emitted upstream. 2 Specific differentiation method 2.1 Physical installation location identification - View sensor housing identification: Most products will indicate "UPTREAM" (upstream) or "DOWNTREAM" (downstream) - Cable connection identification: Upstream sensors are usually connected to interfaces marked with "UP" or "In" on the host. 2.2 Sound wave propagation time verification: Installation correctness can be verified by measuring the propagation time in two directions: - Forward propagation time: upstream → downstream Ultrasonic flowmeter wiring is mainly divided into two parts: host wiring and probe wiring.
